Nano means Small. Each nano-particle is very small; one billionth of a meter, and for a comparison, your fingernail grows about one nanometer in one second. In simple terms, Nano-particles act like very small ball-bearings to cut friction.

Nano-technology is in the heart of nano-particles which bond to engine metal instantly at the microscopic level at high and low temperatures. The bonding provides unsurpassed, state-of-the-art, long-lasting lubrication, protecting all types of petrol and diesel engines.

We, and our overseas collaborators, investigated the tribological behaviour of nano-particles as additional-additives in various grades of engine oils, either mineral based or synthetically blended. All tests were performed under variable load and varying concentrations of nano-particles in lubricating oil. The friction and wear experiments were performed using an advanced Tribo-tester.

This study showed that mixing of nanoparticles in engine oil significantly reduced the friction and wear rate and hence improved the lubricating properties of engine oils, resulting in longer life of components.

The dispersion analysis of nanoparticles in lubricating oil using UV Spectrometer confirmed that nano-particles possessed good stability and solubility in the lubricant and improved the lubricating properties of the engine oil.
